Quote of the week
One of the taglines to this sequel: Find The Way. After experiencing an unexpected warning from her wayfinding ancestor, a young wayfinder must journey to unfamiliar seas to discover why she has yet to connect with other tribes on her seafaring adventures. In an undisclosed location a demi-god fights to break a curse, but may need the help of his human friend to which he must come to terms with in order to complete what he has set out to do.
Moana 2 is a sequel that opens the world that was hinted at in the original and as the story unfolds there are interesting additions to the lore, however the musical numbers are not quite as memorable as the songs in the first installment. The animation is the best thing about this movie and the larger the format it is seen in, the more vibrant the aquatic colors and atmosphere will wash over you. This animated theatrical release was originally going to be a limited series on Disney + and it shows in the pacing, but it does deliver with a solid climax as well as the promise of new oceans to explore.
I rate this sequel a rating of 3 & 1/2 out of 5

Kick Off the Holidays at Festival Noël 2024
Ready to start the month off with the ultimate holiday experience? Mark your calendars—on Friday December 6, the Bahamas National Trust’s (BNT) iconic Festival Noël returns to the Rand Nature Centre in Freeport, and trust us, it’s not just an event; it’s a whole vibe.
Festival Noël has been the go-to social event for 29 years, blending Bahamian culture, conservation, and good times into one unforgettable night. Think: art, music, wine, and foodie heaven—all under the stars.
Why It’s More Than Just a Party:
Festival Noël is Grand Bahama’s only annual fundraiser for BNT. Proceeds from the night go directly into preserving and maintaining three of the island’s stunning national parks: Rand Nature Centre, Lucayan National Park, and Peterson Cay National Park. So while you’re sipping wine and snapping pics, you’re also supporting vital conservation efforts.
What’s On the Lineup:
• Featured Artist: This year, the spotlight’s on Nikita “Kita” Turnquest of Adonis Bahamas. From jewelry to candles, her work is the definition of serene Bahamian culture.
• Live Music: Get hyped for the Top Tier Band, serving up Bahamian classics, contemporary hits, and jazzy saxophone pieces. Plus, soloists will take the mic to keep the energy lit all night long.
• Food + Wine: This is where things get extra good! Local chefs, bakers, and caterers will battle it out in the Sweet Noël and Chef Noël competitions. What does that mean? You’re about to taste the best gourmet dishes and desserts Grand Bahama has to offer. Pair that with an amazing wine selection, and you’re golden.
• Holiday Shopping: Score unique, handcrafted gifts like jewelry, beauty products, and more. It’s the perfect way to get your Christmas shopping done early—and support Bahamian artisans.
Get Your Tickets Now:
Tickets are $60 for BNT members and $65 for non-members if you snag them early online at bntevents.com or in person at the Rand Nature Centre. Don’t wait too late because At-the-gate tickets are $75 for everyone.
This is the holiday event you don’t want to miss. Grab your crew, dress to impress, and let’s make December 6 a night to remember. See you at Festival Noël 2024!

Buddy Hield Joins NBA's Top-20 All-Time Three-Point Leaders
Grand Bahamian Chavano "Buddy" Hield made history earlier this month by breaking into the top-20 of the NBA All-Time three-pointers list. On November 27, during the Golden State Warriors’ 105-101 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Hield surpassed Dirk Nowitzki, claiming the 18th spot. He contributed 17 points off the bench, including five three-pointers. His landmark shot, a three-pointer from the corner, marked his 1,987th career make. Hield is now just one three-pointer shy of tying Jason Kidd and only 13 from reaching 2,000. Despite his performance, the Warriors were defeated in a hard-fought game.

Will The Bahamas Ever Fully Adopt Online?
As the world embraces the digital age, The Bahamas has made strides in integrating online systems. From government e-services to e-commerce platforms, progress is evident, yet full adoption still feels like a work in progress. The question is: what’s holding us back?
A significant barrier is access. While major islands like New Providence and Grand Bahama have strong internet infrastructure, smaller Family Islands struggle with consistent connectivity. This digital divide makes it challenging to ensure equal access to online services nationwide. Moreover, many Bahamians remain hesitant to trust online systems, especially for banking and shopping, due to concerns about cybersecurity and fraud.
Government initiatives like MyGateway, which centralizes several government services online, have been a promising step forward. However, adoption remains slow as users encounter glitches or lengthy processing times. Businesses are also catching up, with more local retailers offering online shopping and delivery services. Still, many cling to traditional models, wary of investing heavily in digital platforms.
Cultural attitudes also play a role. Bahamians value personal interaction, which can make the impersonal nature of online transactions less appealing. This resistance is particularly evident in sectors like healthcare, where telemedicine adoption remains limited despite its potential to bridge gaps for remote communities.
For The Bahamas to fully embrace online, there must be a collective effort to address these challenges. Improved infrastructure, robust cybersecurity measures, and widespread digital literacy programs are key. At the same time, local businesses and government agencies need to build trust in their platforms by prioritizing user experience and security.
While full adoption may take time, The Bahamas has the potential to thrive in the online era. With a focus on bridging gaps and shifting mindsets, the transition can be both seamless and transformative.
