From the Editor:

What Da Wybe Is? This week, we feature Quentin Stuart, a rising model whose confidence, curiosity, and unapologetically unconventional edge prove that true style is about standing out, not fitting in.

In the ever-evolving Bahamian fashion scene, one name beginning to stand out is Quentin Stuart a young model whose journey began in the most unexpected way. When Quentin first landed in Freeport, modeling wasn’t on his radar. He had just picked up a job bussing tables at the Grand Bahama Yacht Club when Darrol, a figure in the local modeling scene, stopped him mid-shift and asked if he’d ever considered modeling. “I looked at him like ‘yeah, sure,’” Stuart laughs. “That was 2022. I didn’t know what I was doing at all, but that moment opened the door.”

For someone who describes himself as “pretty strange” and “off the wall” outside of modeling, Stuart’s entry into fashion feels almost poetic, but meant to be. At first, his interest was mild, but fashion soon pulled him in deeper. “Around a year ago, I realized there’s so much more to it,” he says. “That’s what really sparked it for me.”

“Life was life-ing. I lost interest in a lot of things. Then one day, maybe it was the haircut I got but I just felt ready again.”

Still, life hasn’t made it easy. Between work, family, and the everyday realities of adulthood, Stuart found himself stretched thin. The mental toll was heavy, but his recent reset came right as new opportunities surfaced, shows, studio sessions, and projects that feel aligned with his vision. “The stars kind of just aligned,” he says.

On the runway, Stuart has traded nerves for confidence. His first showcase was shaky, but it taught him the core of modeling: calm, self-expression, and presence. Today, his Afro is his signature, his crown and calling card. As for poses? “I can’t explain it,” he shrugs. “It’s just instinct.”

“The whole point is to express yourself at your calmest. That’s when you shine.”

While comparisons to international star Alton Mason follow him everywhere, Stuart isn’t leaning on lookalike narratives. “It would be cool to work with him one day, sure. But I don’t need it to happen. I just do what I like.”

That’s the essence of Quentin Stuart, unconventional, unapologetic, and just beginning to step fully into his own.

Critics call UY Scuti bloated and inconsistent, with lackluster performances and too many filler tracks. While a few songs show glimpses of emotional depth, the album suffers from poor cohesion, questionable features, and mixing issues. Controversial cover art and certain lyrical choices further overshadow its strengths, making this one of Thug’s most polarizing releases.

The Abacos are set for a major uptrend with the late 2025 opening of Montage Cay, Montage Hotels & Resorts' first private island destination. This $300M+ ultra-luxury project, just a short boat ride from Marsh Harbour, is poised to redefine high-end travel in the Northern Bahamas.

Far more than a standard resort, Montage Cay, the redeveloped 53-acre Matt Lowe's Cay, is pioneering a new era of sustainable, eco-conscious luxury. The design incorporates over-water bungalows and uses materials that respect the Abacos’ pristine coral reefs and stunning marine reserves.

By focusing on eco-tourism and attracting a high-value clientele, Montage Cay not only elevates The Abacos' status on the global map but also sets a benchmark for the future of responsible luxury development in The Bahamas.

Forget the postcard landscapes and the baskets in the Straw Market we know those are just part of our story. A powerful, sophisticated new pulse is beating in The Bahamas, and it’s establishing Nassau as the region’s premier art capital.

The evidence is undeniable: The FUZE Caribbean Art Fair is returning for its second year this October at Baha Mar as part of the Culinary & Arts Festival. This isn't just another hotel event; it’s a strategic platform where our local talent steps onto the world stage.

With more than 70 artists from over 14 Caribbean nations, FUZE isn’t just an exhibition; it’s a dynamic marketplace and the region’s biggest cultural convening. Think of it as our own nascent Art Basel, where global collectors many of whom are already on our shores can discover the next June Collie, Lavar Munroe, or John Paul Saddleton before the international art world catches on.

This year’s fair has made a deliberate pivot back to the fundamentals of our creative heritage. FUZE is inviting us to participate. Yes, you can browse masterpieces, but now you can also join local legends for figure drawing classes or dive into a traditional straw craft workshop with our own artisans.

This is the pivotal moment we’ve been waiting for. The Bahamas isn't merely attracting high-end travellers; we are actively cultivating and commanding a vibrant, contemporary arts scene powered by our own people and demanding global respect. FUZE isn't just happening in The Bahamas; it is a celebration of what our unique creative spirit brings to the entire Caribbean, proving that the brightest, boldest art is rooted right here in The Bahamas.
