Quote of the week

The tagline for this movie: Jack Black Is Not Santa. A young boy, dealing with a lor more in his life than he thinks he can handle, writes his Christmas wish list to Santa. Due to his dyslexia, he makes a crucial spelling error that leads to him having to deal with a chaotic entity ready to wreak having during the winter holiday season.

Dear Santa is a holiday family comedy that tries to pull in every member of the family from the very old to the very yoing with humor that is sadly hit or miss with drama that seems out of place and an ending that feels unearned. Tge best thing about this movie is the dynamic between Jack Black and Robert Timothy which reminded me a little bit of School of Rock to a lesser extent. I was expecting more from the reunion of the Shallow Hal comedic team of The Farrelly Bros. behind the camera and Black in front of the camera, but this comes off a bit half baked as it is presented to the audience.

I rate this movie a rating of 2 & 1/2 out of 5.

Foodie Finds with Tasty With KC

Ibiza Nightclub is the newest hot spot in Freeport, here to shake up the nightlife and entertainment game. Located on Queens Highway (the old Legends Nightclub), they had their soft opening last Tuesday—just in time for the flood of locals hitting the island for some of the events we covered in our last Freeport roundup (check it out here). And trust me, it’s already making waves.

Serving major Miami vibes with a sleek layout, intense lighting, and a bold food menu, Ibiza is giving Freeport a taste of the international party scene—while also throwing it back to the “Magic City Days” when the nightlife here was popping.

The space is massive, with VIP booth sections starting at $1,000 and tables for large groups at $350. Hookahs are available upon request and they also have 2 bars, one main bar with ample amount of bartenders and the bottle bar with bottle service. And with guest DJs and events lined up every single night this holiday season, there’s no better time to check it out.

Let’s be real: Freeport needed this energy. The timing couldn’t be better with all the holiday buzz. I haven’t had the chance to dive into their menu yet, but you already know a foodie review is coming soon.

Behind The Buzz

Is Freeport Getting Its Magic Back?

For years, Freeport has been a city of untapped potential, a place where the memories of its golden days still linger in conversations. Once celebrated as a hub of culture, commerce, and innovation, the city has faced challenges that dulled its shine. But now, there’s a renewed buzz—a whisper turning into a roar—that Freeport might just be finding its magic again.

The signs are everywhere. Iconic spots that once stood as monuments of better times are being revived, breathing life into the city’s cultural landscape. New businesses with bold and innovative visions are popping up, offering locals fresh experiences while attracting curious visitors. Events like festivals, concerts, and community-driven projects are drawing record crowds, reminding everyone of the vibrant spirit that Freeport has always had at its core.

Perhaps what’s most exciting is the energy coming from Freeport’s younger generation. These budding entrepreneurs, artists, and innovators are refusing to let the island’s potential go unnoticed. Instead, they’re carving out spaces for creativity and progress, bringing fresh ideas to a city that’s ready to embrace change.

Of course, challenges remain. Economic hurdles and infrastructure needs are still part of the conversation. But there’s an undeniable sense of hope and determination, a feeling that the city is no longer just surviving but actively working towards thriving.

Freeport’s magic is not just about the place—it’s about its people. The resilience, creativity, and community spirit driving this resurgence are what truly make Freeport special. And as we witness this transformation, one question remains: Are we ready to embrace the new Freeport and help it shine even brighter than before?
