What Da Wybe Is? The Bahamian Citizenship test is back for semester 3 and this year class feels different. Dive in to see why

Every summer, just as report cards drop and beach towels come out, a new kind of school bell rings, and this one’s strictly Bahamian. Semester 3 of The Bahamian Citizenship Test is officially in session, and this year, class feels different.

What started as a series of fun Twitter polls has become an annual Independence staple. A cultural quiz rooted in pride, nostalgia, and vibes, the Test is back for its third semester and it’s giving more than just trivia.

Each morning, one question drops at www.bahamiancitizenshiptest.com, challenging Bahamians of all ages to test their knowledge on music, sports, history, and the little things only we would know. But this year, they’ve added something special: Houses.

Inspired by four Bahamian icons, participants now choose to represent House Pindling, House Bostwick, House Christie, or House Ingraham. From the Father of the Nation to the first female Acting Prime Minister — these Houses bring legacy, pride, and a whole new level of competition.

And just like that, a one-question-a-day quiz turned into a full-blown cultural Olympics. Weekly leaderboards spotlight the star pupils and the Houses leading the charge because bragging rights are very much on the line.

Semester 3 is proof that learning your culture doesn’t have to feel like school. It can feel like family group chats, heated debates, and scrolling through comments like “Bostwick run the road”

So, even if school’s out for summer, Bahamian knowledge is always in session.

The only question is: what House you in?

And more importantly…..Are you really Bahamian?

One of the taglines for this live action remake: There's One In Every Family. When an illegal alien genetic experiment befriends a lonely orphan, they form a bond that helps heal the wounds of a broken family. As the bond develops those around them are affected, from the orphan's older sister to the two aliens on a mission to retrieve the fugitive experiment.

Lilo & Stitch is a live action remake that takes elements from the original animated movie, its sequels and tv series to create a familiar feeling family film that loses a bit of its heart in the translation from one medium to the other. Dean Fleischer Camp shows that his directing in Marcel the Shell with Shoes On was no fluke as he brings across some of the flourish that made the original endearing. The script by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright & Mike Van Waes leans heavily on the groundwork set by the writing team of Chris Sanders & Dean DeBlois in the animated franchise. Sanders returning to voice Stitch and Maia Kealoha as Lilo do fantastic jobs and though some of the sentimentality is lost when certain scenes are presented in live action, the mischief comes across perferectly. It was great to see Tia Carrere, Amy Hill and Jason Scott Lee in roles since they provided voices in the original and the series, but I wish Daveigh Chase had been included as maybe the person who hands Stitch to Lilo at the Animal Shelter to show a passing of the torch. The omission that is noticed the most is the lack of Captain Gantu, but after finding out that this was originally going to premiere on Disney + and then got bumped up to a theatrical release on the strength of test audience reaction, it is understandable that certain characters who would have added to the special effects budget were left out. I will be the first to admit that I am ot the target audience for this motion picture, but it does make an effort in ways that other's of its ilk have not. I rate this movie a rating of 3 out of 5.

Could This NY Yankees Deal Change How the World Sees The Bahamas?

As Bahamians, we’re used to seeing our islands pop up in commercials with, smiling tourists, and crystal-clear water. But popping up in Yankee Stadium? That’s new.

So what’s really behind this partnership between The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and the New York Yankees? Is this just another branding deal, or is this part of something bigger?

With in-stadium features, LED ads, digital activations, and even a sweepstakes for fans to win trips here, it’s clear we’re not just sponsoring, we’re showing up. But not just as a backdrop. The Bahamas is placing itself directly in the middle of American sports culture. Bold move. Could this be a response to shifting travel habits? Or maybe a strategic way to remind people that The Bahamas isn’t just sand and sea but a world-class destination with energy, culture, and real connection?

It makes you wonder: Are we finally realizing the value of our own brand?

And for those of us at home, it sparks a deeper question—how are we preparing to meet that exposure? If thousands of Yankees fans suddenly book a flight to Nassau or Exuma, will our tourism experience be ready to not just meet—but wow—them?

This move is more than a logo on a screen. It’s a statement. And if we play our cards right, it could be a home run not just for tourism numbers but for Bahamian identity on a global stage.
